For many people, noise has become the number-one environmental burden and they are strongly or very strongly annoyed by noise. People suffer most from traffic and aircraft noise. And noise exposure has consequences: around 15 to 20 per cent of the population are considered to be hearing-impaired, and this is increasingly affecting young people. However, this is just one of the conditions caused by noise, as there is also a risk of tinnitus as well as negative effects for the heart and circulation. Before noise damage occurs, everybody should therefore take an active approach and look after their hearing.
